Instructor Profile: Daniel
I’m Daniel and I’m one of the team members here at Essential English Solutions. As you may have read in another post, this is a very new and small operation that was created by the four of us. Connie, Mariegrace, Bella and I have been friends and colleagues for the past decade or so, and after working in the field of ESL instruction (both at educational institutions and online) we decided to start this project and serve students the best way we know how.
I am a second-generation Korean-American currently living in Southern California. I grew up primarily in the West Coast of the U.S., spending time in both Oregon and California. I earned my B.A. in Psychology at UCI before returning to school and pursuing a Master’s degree in TESOL at CSULA. Upon graduating, I began to teach at the university and college level thanks to strong recommendations from my professors. I gained extensive experience as an instructor at CSULA and Glendale Community College, as well as at several other educational institutions.
Some of my specialty courses and areas include:
Academic reading and writing
College preparation and admissions
Listening, speaking and conversation
Grammar and literacy
TOEFL, IELTS and test preparation
I have successfully worked with students from every proficiency level, from basic beginners to advanced students attending graduate school. Obviously, as an instructor at the college level, I have worked with students of all ages from literally around the world and from very diverse cultural, social, economic, and religious backgrounds. So I am very comfortable and effective in teaching diverse students, in fact, I think one of my greatest strengths is my ability to establish a rapport with students and make them feel comfortable and welcomed. Many of my former and currents students can attest to that and I think you would too.
So allow me to welcome you again to our blog and I hope you can learn and benefit from it. Thanks for reading!
